The Nettle Creek Community Coalition (NCCC) began with a realization that we could do more for our neighbors. In 2023, while serving as the Jefferson Township Trustee in Hagerstown, Chris identified a hurdle: to partner with organizations like Gleaners Food Bank and better serve our residents, a formal 501(c)(3) non-profit was essential.
Founded by Chris and Staci, NCCC was built on two clear goals: expanding our local food pantry and finding innovative ways to serve the Nettle Creek community.
Our journey started with a modest plan to provide basic necessities—essentials like pads, tampons, toothpaste, and deodorant. However, the community’s response was immediate and overwhelming.
Within weeks of launching the Personal Care Pantry (PCP), our local Hagerstown Dollar General donated two full vanloads of supplies. That incredible partnership allowed us to scale almost overnight, growing our inventory from six basic items to over 50 essential products.
Today, NCCC is a vital resource for local health and stability. Through the generosity of partners, volunteers, and grant funding, we provide a wide array of support, including:
Hygiene Essentials: Soap, toothpaste, and menstrual products.
Household Goods: Dish soap, laundry detergent, and cleaning supplies.
Pet Care: Food and supplies to keep our neighbors' furry companions healthy.
By keeping these items out of landfills and getting them into the hands of those who need them most, we help local families save hundreds of dollars each month. Those savings are life-changing—allowing our neighbors to redirect their limited funds toward critical costs like medicine, utilities, and childcare.
NCCC is a true labor of love. We are an entirely volunteer-run organization—no one at NCCC receives a salary. From unloading heavy pallets on truck days to packing boxes and picking up donations, our team gives their time because they care.
Every donation and grant we receive goes directly back into our operations, ensuring that every dollar works as hard as possible for the people of Nettle Creek.
